About Sri Balaji (Lord Vishnu)
The ancient and sacred temple of Sri Venkateswara is located on the seventh peak, Venkatachala (Venkata Hill) of the Tirupati Hill, and lies on the southern banks of Sri Swami Pushkarini.
It is by the Lord's presidency over Venkatachala, that He has received the appellation, Venkateswara (Lord of the Venkata Hill). He is also called the Lord of the Seven Hills.
The benefits acquired by a piligrimage to Venkatachala are mentioned in the Rig Veda and Asthadasa Puranas. In these epics, Sri Venkateswara is described as the great bestower of boons.
There are several legends associated with the manifestation of the Lord at Tirumala. The Temple has its origins in Vaishnavism, an ancient sect which advocates the principles of equality and love, and prohibits animal sacrifice.

With the grace of the Almighty, the blessings of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy, and the unwavering support of our devotees, donors, volunteers, and the wider community, we are pleased to share an important and joyful development in the journey of Sri Balaji Temple and Sri Balaji Temple Trust (SBTT), Hamilton.
For several years, the Trust has explored opportunities to expand temple activities and facilities to better serve the growing spiritual and cultural needs of our community. Various options were carefully considered, including the possibility of purchasing land on the outskirts of Hamilton to build a larger temple complex. However, the financial requirements for such projects were beyond our current reach, and the level of donations required to sustainably service a bank loan made these options challenging.
Throughout this journey, the trustees, patrons, donors, and supporters of the temple have devoted significant time, effort, and thoughtful consideration in searching for a viable path forward. On behalf of Sri Balaji Temple Trust, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed their wisdom, support, and encouragement during this process.
By the divine blessings of Sri Balaji, we are delighted to announce a significant milestone: the purchase of the neighbouring property located at 52 King Street, with the vision of expanding temple and community activities. Over the past few months, we have worked closely with Hamilton City Council (HCC) to obtain Resource Consent for the property to be used as a Place of Worship. This has been a diligent and intensive process.
Gruha Pravesham of the Sri Balaji Temple extension premises and Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Puja will be performed on Saturday, 23 May 2026, from 9:00 am onwards. The homam and Vaasthu Puja will be performed by Pt Chandru Kurukkal of the Auckland Sri Ganesh Temple, along with Pt Gopalaacharyulu and Pt Ramaswamy of Sri Balaji Temple, Hamilton.
This development marks an important step in the long-term vision and mission of Sri Balaji Temple Trust.
The newly acquired property will serve as a community hub for Sanatana Dharma, where spiritual, cultural, educational, and social activities can flourish. With the blessings of Lord Sri Venkateswara, the site will gradually be developed as a venue supporting:
Spiritual and devotional gatherings
Cultural programmes celebrating the diversity of Hindu traditions
Literary activities across multiple languages
Community engagement and social harmony initiatives
On this sacred and auspicious occasion, Sri Balaji Temple Trust warmly invites members of the community who wish to contribute their skills, time, and support to join us in this noble journey.
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life—whether your contribution is physical, professional, financial, cultural, or spiritual. Your involvement will help guide, strengthen, and sustain this mission as we work together to build a vibrant spiritual and cultural centre for present and future generations.
With the blessings of Sri Venkateswara Swamy, may this initiative bring unity, devotion, and prosperity to our entire community.
We humbly request all devotees to support this project through donations. You may also set up an automatic payment (monthly, fortnightly, or weekly) for an amount you are comfortable with. Kindly send confirmation to the temple via email, including your name, address, and phone number.
