Sophie and Tim introduce each other - the original and organic pen pictures:

Tim offers this introduction to family and friends:

Sophie was born and brought up in the towns and villages of North Yorkshire, and after a brilliant time at school, stayed on for a gap year in which she worked as a technician in the Food and Textiles departments. On a recent visit to Harrogate, I was informed of her apparent love for making frozen green flapjack, a privilege I have yet to experience, but as far as I'm aware wasn't something she learnt from the teachers!

As a keen mathematician and lover of numbers, Sophie studied maths and then continued on with a masters in statistics at uni in Sheffield. It didn't put her off and she's now working as a civil servant in the Steel City.

Sophie and I have been at the same church in Sheffield for the last 5 years, and got to know each other well last summer after she returned to Sheffield from 9 months working in Oxfordshire. A friend once described me as a 'walking cliché', and I suppose I lived up to that title after asking Sophie out after I was best man and she was a bridesmaid at the wedding of two of our best friends. An already joyful day became even more significant for the two of us.

It didn't take long to realise that this bass-playing, spreadsheet-loving girl was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, and I am thrilled that she feels the same way about me! What makes it even sweeter is that you can celebrate it with us, thank you.

And here's Sophie introducing Tim to family and friends:

Tim grew up in Solihull with a great passion for many areas of life. This has notably included various sets of 11 men in red shirts and many tears of both joy and sadness on Saturday afternoons. ‘For better or for worse’ will be relevant for both our marriage and our football team.

Tim took a gap year in Brazil before uni, involving helping out in a favela pre-school, leading worship in Portugese, and teaching English. He also managed to get lime juice burns from attempting the beach blonde look. We are all thankful that this was the last of Tim’s major hairstyle experiments.

Despite once walking into a lamppost dressed as Barry Chuckle, Tim actually got a decent degree in the field of Geography, and then pursued his passion for working with children with a primary PGCE. He spent the last year with a great group of young adults completing a church-based gap year and working with kids across the city.

Tim and I first walked down the aisle together at our dear friends’ wedding, as best man and bridesmaid. Little did we know that a year and a half later, we would do it again – as man and wife!
