Le Fournil & La Grange, Azay le Ferron, Indre (36), France
Le Fournil is a 200 year old “longère” farmhouse that has been lovingly restored and renovated in great style in 2002. The house has a total of 5 double bedrooms and 3 fully fitted bathrooms. On the ground floor, there is one double bedroom with en-suite and another double room with adjoining bathroom and WC. There is a lovely living room, magnificent dining room with superb open fireplace, exposed stonework & beams, fitted kitchen, large hall, utility room and games room/spare room. Upstairs there are three superb double bedrooms, all with exposed beams and stonework, a shower-room and separate toilet.
La Grange was originally the barn to the farmhouse. It was converted into a beautiful 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house in 2003 by the same local tradesmen who renovated Le Fournil. Downstairs the house comprises a lovely bespoke fitted kitchen that retains original beams and stonework. This leads through to an open plan living/dining room with large feature fireplace and huge window that used to be the barn doors. The window extends above to the height of the second storey and the ceiling has been left open in this part of the room to take advantage of this superb feature. It is a double aspect room that features patio doors looking out over the garden and rolling countryside beyond. Downstairs there is a double bedroom with en-suite shower-room and separate toilet. Upstairs comprises three double bedrooms with exposed beams and stonework along with two fully fitted bathrooms.
Les deux Both properties have been renovated to the highest standard and all bathrooms are fully fitted with new sanitary ware. Both kitchens are fully fitted and also new.
Both properties are wheelchair-friendly; there is a mobile patient-hoist (please take your own sling).
Le jardin Both houses are on one plot of land: approximately 1 acre of land with the properties that is mainly grass with a few mature trees and a few smaller fruit trees. 10m x 5m swimming pool. Petanque area.
La region The properties are situated in a small, quiet hamlet approx. 500m from Azay-le-Ferron in the Indre department (36) in the very south of the Touraine region of France. It is situated 1 hour from both Tours and Poitiers which are both served by Ryanair. It is approximately 5 hours drive from Calais and 3 hours from the Normandy ferry crossings. The properties are within the “Parc naturel regional de la Brenne” which is a conservation area and also known as the “1000 lakes”:
