Background: Allen Webster Tracey was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Growing up in Toronto, Ontario, his exposure to art, design, music and popular culture was what always motivated the direction of his developing life. He excelled in the arts while in Secondary School, which he completed in 1979, and defined the career choices he would then make next. He attended Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, combining a diverse curriculum of Architectural, Industrial, and Graphic Design studies from 1980-1984.
Graphic Designer: Allen began his career as a professional designer in Ottawa, but he soon expanded to Toronto, Canada. By the late 80's, Allen was a Senior Designer with The Watt Group, one of the world's most prestigious design firms. He was then approved for Professional Membership (MGDC) in the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada in 1993.
Travel: Over the 80's and 90's Allen had the opportunity to travel extensively in North America and Latin America always absorbing meaningful facets of rich and disparate cultures on his path and improving his fluency in French and Spanish.
Costa Rica: In 1993 Allen moved to Costa Rica where he established his own design firm, and began to provide professional consulting design services to many Central American based multinational companies. Visual Artist: Over his lifetime, Allen has continually developed as a visual artist. Particularly his exposure to travel and languages has shaped his persona and outlook meaningfully, always absorbing the facets of rich and disparate cultures on his path to channel into his works of art. Concentrating on creating abstract works of art and developing themes with integrated series of works that call for the use of multiple mediums, he frequently mixes media like acrylic and spray paints, pastels, inks and charcoal on a range of diverse materials, and he often layers or superimposes contrasting paints or materials to create more texture and variety. Dedicated to his art, Allen explores themes, experiments with styles and exploits varying techniques. His art essentially portrays the singular expressions of his own distinctive journey as an individual artist.
