Biography

Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali, Vice Chancellor, Hazara University has a distinguished academic and professional career to his credit. Being an eminent university professor and research scholar, he had gleaned the most valuable and rich scholastic experiences in the field of Archaeology at national and international level. Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali had been and outstanding intellectual to win gold medal and record holder in MA Archaeology from university of Peshawar. He got the prestigious British Council Fellowship for study at University College London, was awarded Central Overseas Scholarship to pursue research at University of Cambridge and Charles Wallace (Pakistan) Trust Fellowship for University of Cambridge. In 2002,2003 and 2006 the American Institute of Pakistan Studies invited him for lecture tour to Universities of Pennsylvania, New York, Harvard, Boston, Wisconsin, Madison, and Long Beach Los Angeles where he delivered thought provoking lectures on cultural heritage and ancient civilizations.

Blessed with unshaken devotion of mind and conduct, he has established his worth as an effective Lecturer, Professor and Head of Department of Archaeology at University of Peshawar. His administrative acumen has been approbated in the higher circle of NWFP government, when he succeeded to initiate eight new museums in the province to revive its lost glory and strategic importance. Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali showed his extra ordinary qualities of leadership as general sectary PUTA and Federations of all Pakistani Universities Academic staff association, member advisory body Ministry of Minorities, culture and sports, tourism and youth affairs. At present he is the member of the syndicate elected by the senate of the University of Peshawar. As Vice Chancellor of Hazara University, he has restored all the Academic and research functions after the crippling effects of October earthquake, besides reactivating all the statutory bodies. He arranged two consecutive meetings of the selection board for inducting competent faculty and staff. More importantly he never misses any opportunity of delivering lectures, presenting papers, organizing conferences and seminars at national and international levels on the rise and fall of glorious ancient civilizations of the East.
