When the current register was started on 22nd July 1919, the Paris International Conference allocated the prefix G- followed by four letters for British Empire registrations. The series G-CAAA to G-CAZZ was originally allocated to Canada between 1920 and 1929. These would subsequently be replaced by the CF-### format.
