Introduction

The Authoritarian Regimes Dataset (ARD) is a comprehensive dataset on authoritarian regimes in the world between 1972-2014. The dataset enables researchers, students, activists and development professionals to distinguish between different authoritarian regimes, follow global and regional trends in authoritarianism and study the specific institutional trajectories of a particular country or set of countries.
