To avoid making or accepting some NWL phony words like UN(something) or UN(that something)S, get Zyzzyva at http://www.scrabbleplayers.org/zyzzyva/ and look at UN(that something)ED that are adjectives instead of verbs! For example, UNFADED is a word, but not those other forms.
When writing down a bingo, the Austin stats site (atxscrabble.com) uses these notations to signify how the bingo was formed:
For example, with (A)U(B)ER(G)iNES on a result slip, this means the A, B, and G were on the board, and a blank was used for the I. (This is a famous play by the late Ron Tiekert - recently mentioned in NASPA's Scrabble News).
