1999
Before the inception of the Aurelius Ensemble, members of the Aurelius Trio—Eran Egozy, clarinet; Wilson Hsieh, viola; Elaine Chew, piano—came together as students in Marcus Aurelius Thompson's Chamber Music Society at MIT in 1992. Their coaches have included John Harbison, Lynn Chang, Marcus Thompson, David Deveau, William Wrzecien and Jean Rife.
Motivated by chamber music readings and inspired by the lively musical repartees they generated, the trio collaborated on a full length concert in Spring 1994. The program consisted of:
Hindemith's Sonata for Viola and Piano
Ravel's Alborado del Gracioso
Steve Reich's New York Counterpoint for Clarinet and Tape
Mozart's Kegelstatt Trio for Clarinet, Viola and Piano
Reinecke's Trio for Clarinet, Viola and Piano
