How They Met
Audrey and Nithin first met through Facebook. Before their "chance" meeting on Facebook there was considerable groundwork laid by Joel Vas ( Nithin's cousin) and Aureen Gomes ( Audrey's sister) ,who were classmates in engineering at the time, to get these two lovebugs together. Late December 2009 saw incessant SMSes ( Unbeknownst to them,a year later this helped Audrey win a competition for most SMSes stored in inbox - a whopping 3500!!) exchanged between the two, before they finally decided that they should meet in real life. The meeting place was decided to be St. Patrick's Church given the pious nature of Nithin and the blessed character of Audrey. They first met in the church where Nithin turned up late as usual but got a seat next to Audrey, as she had shooed away all and sundry who had asked for the seat next to her in the over crowded church. This shining beacon of symbolism was to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.Later after the mass got over, they headed to BBQ nation Indiranagar for lunch ,got to know each other and talked at length about every topic under the sun, and wistfully bid adieu to each other before Nithin left for the UK that same night.
The Engagement
It was a tough time in UK for poor Nithin without Audrey to give him company. Lengthy emails were exchanged,
one could say GMail servers were near to breaking point at this juncture, and ISD calls were made as if they were local calls. Finally Nithin returned in early February, to his love who was expectantly waiting for him . One fine day ( indeed it was Valentine's day) Nithin decided to take the bull by it's horns ( not literally) and popped the question to the lady. The answer from Audrey was a delightful and resounding "YES" and all was well with the world.
P.S.The formal ceremony took a few months in the making and was held on Oct 9 2010 ( check the Photos Tab to view the engagement pics), with the permission from elders coming through smoothly and keeping in view the most convenient time for all the close family members to attend and take part in the engagement program.
