Test design

The most important question to ask ourselves when designing an assessment task is 'why are we assessing'? To answer this question, we must look back to our learning outcomes.

The University of Reading suggests other important questions we should ask ourselves:

• What exactly am I trying to assess?

• How am I assessing my students?

• Who is best placed to do the assessing?

• When should I assess my students?
