Compliant Mechanisms Awards Information

The Annual ASME Mechanisms and Robotics Conference

Purpose:

This award has been established to promote the research and development in the area of compliant mechanisms.

Awards:

Up to two awards will be awarded each year for a total of $600. The Compliant Mechanisms Award can be given to a single winner or split into two $300 awards. If the award is split, it is customary to give one for Compliant Mechanisms: Theory and one for Compliant Mechanisms: Application.

Qualifications of Awardees:

  • Must present a paper in the area of compliant mechanisms.

  • Must be in attendance at the conference and present the paper.

  • Must not be a member of Awards Committee, or must be recused from judging this particular award.

Paper Evaluation Guidelines:

  • Originality and contribution to the state of the art in compliant mechanism theory or application.

  • Clarity and conciseness of presentation.

Notes:

The judging process is completed as follows: Papers submitted for publication in the conference proceedings are reviewed by reviewers, and these reviewers can state if the paper is worthy of an award. The review coordinators nominate the best candidates for the award from the papers in their area. A review coordinator’s paper may be nominated by reviewers or another review coordinator. The Awards Committee reviews the nominations from all the review coordinators and selects the award winner or winners.

The award winner(s) will receive the cash award (provided by award sponsors) and a plaque (provided by ASME).
