Postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Neuroinformatics, Ruhr University Bochum, working on online hyperparameter optimization (HPO), reinforcement learning (RL) and applied machine learning (ML).
January 2017
I received my PhD in Computer Science from University of Paris-Saclay (formerly Paris-Sud 11), under the supervision of Nikolaus Hansen and Anne Auger. My most prominent contribution was the design and analysis of an augmented Lagrangian-based constraint handling mechanism for CMA-ES–the state-of-the-art optimizer for black-box numerical optimization.
2013
Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence at University of Paris-Saclay (formerly Paris-Sud 11)
2011
Engineer's degree in Computer Science at the National School of Computer Science, Algiers, Algeria
2019–2020
Postdoctoral researcher at the LTCI, Télécom Paris. Designed a recurrent neural network (RNN) for user engagement analysis in Human-Robot Interaction.
2018–2019
Postdoctoral researcher at the ICMPE (CNRS—UPEC). Worked on the generation of metal hydrides for hydrogen storage using ML approaches, namely Generative Models (GANs) and Graph Neural Networks (GNNs).
2017–2018
Postdoctoral researcher at the CMAP, RandOpt team. Worked on benchmarking algorithms for black-box continuous constrained optimization.
2013–2017
PhD student at University of Paris-Saclay and Inria. Analyzed and designed various Evolution Strategies—a class of adaptive stochastic algorithms for black-box continuous optimization—for constrained optimization in particular.
