I got my Ph.D. in dairy herd management from dairy science department at UW-Madison. I worked with Victor E. Cabrera as a research assistant. The main focus of our work was on developing user-friendly decision support tools for dairy farmers and their consultants to help them in their daily decision making.
During my program we built a decision support tools for economic evaluation of different reproductive programs available in the US. That work resulted in a decision tool (UWCURepro), which is currently available.
My last project was on nutritional grouping of lactating cows in dairy herds. The objective of this project was to evaluate the impact of nutritional grouping in lactating dairy cows, both economically and environmentally.
Currently, I am working as a data analyst and product development specialist in AgSource, CRI. In today's big data environment no industry can afford ignoring data, and our idea is to use the generated and gathered data from dairy farms to make informed better decisions. Decisions that help to make a sustainable and economical farming.
