Summary:

Ashfaq Ahmad currently holds the position of assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Air University, Islamabad, Pakistan. Previously, he was a research fellow at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory within the School of Computing Sciences at the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. During this tenure, he conducted research for the 'REMeDY—Spearheading a revolution in energy market design' project, funded by Innovate UK (UKRI) [details on: REMeDY, UEA, UKRI]. Project REMeDY involved collaborations with local authorities, commercial organisations and academic institutions including Imperial College London, SMS Energy Services Limited, Vital Energi Utilities Limited, Places for People Group Limited (FutureGov. Ltd), University of East Anglia, and Southend on Sea Borough Council. Earlier in his career, he also contributed as a research associate at the ComSens research lab at COMSATS University Islamabad.


He earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia, and holds both a BS and an MS in Electrical Engineering from COMSATS University Islamabad, Pakistan. Dr. Ahmad authored or co-authored over 40 research publications in esteemed international journals and peer-reviewed conferences. He actively participates in the academic community as an associate editor, guest editor, invited reviewer, and technical program committee (TPC) member for several prominent international journals and conferences/workshops. Currently, his research focuses on exploring the applications of machine learning, blockchain and optimization techniques in integrated energy systems with renewable and storage integration.
