Piotr Fafrowicz

Piotr Fafrowicz, a painter

- was born in 1958. He spent his childhood years in Szczecin, Poland.

He studied History of Art at the University KUL in Lublin, Poland. At present, besides

painting, he designs posters, calendars and holiday cards.

In 2001 he received the second prize at the Biennale of European Illustration in

Aki To wn (Japan). In 2003 the Polish Section of IBBY honoured him for his illustrations

made for

Malgorzata Strzalkowska's poems "Green, yellow, red, brown". For the past few years

he has been illustrating books for children. He likes to work for them a lot. His last two

books (for the Publisher FGO 9) received the title of "The Most Beautiful Book of The

Year" (2003 and 2005) which was awarded by the Polish Society of Book Publishers.

"For the past few years I have been illustrating books for children. A picture should

not duplicate a text - that's the whole secret. It is to enrich it. Children are very

good observers. You can't fool them. I try not to deceive them. I also make illustrations

for books that don't exist..."

Piotr Fafrowicz - urodzil sie w 1958 roku. Dziecinstwo spedzil w Szczecinie. Studiowal

historie sztuki na Katolickim Uniwersytecie Lubelskim. Obecnie, oprocz malarstwa zajmuje

się projektowaniem plakatow, kalendarzy, kart swiatecznych. W 2001 roku zajal II miejsce

na Biennale Ilustracji Europejskiej w Aki Town w Japonii a w 2003 polska sekcja IBBY

Wyroznila jego ilustracje do wierszy Malgorzaty Strzalkowskiej „zielony, zolty, rudy, brazowy".

Od kilku lat ilustruje dla dzieci. Bardzo lubi dla nich pracowac.

Obrazki

Od kilku lat ilustruje ksiazki dla dzieci. Cala tajemnica tkwi w tym, żeby obraz nie powielal

tekstu. Ma go wzbogacac. Dzieci sa bardzo dobrymi obserwatorami. Nie można ich oszukac.

Staram się ich nie zawiesc. Maluje tez obrazki do nieistniejacych ksiazek...
