Science CLUB

Promoting and popularising science is one of my passions. I am mentoring a Science Club called SciRox which has over 200 student members from various colleges and University. The club aims to exchange scientific wisdom with masses, and also serves as a platform for the members to experiment, grow and prosper by collaborating with eminent scientific societies.

In a bid to popularise and promote science among general public and school students, the club runs a science exhibition bus “Vigyan Safari” for young children where they meet, brainstorm and design working project models. This venture specifically aims to intrigue young minds by performing live scientific experiments in government schools falling under the jurisdiction of Amritsar.

The club has also started “Project Tunneling”. In this project, students/academicians/teachers make science experiment videos in regional language. The videos are put on SciRox YouTube channel every week. With this idea in mind the club has also initiated an Interdisciplinary Science Education Journal-Inertia. The journal aims to publish science articles for non-experts and school students so as to promote scientific temperament among people belonging to different age groups, background and demographics. Two issues of the science journal have been released so far.

In addition to this we have also organised various other events such as essay/article writing and reading competitions; state level quiz competition; webinars for empowering school children to make wise food choices; astrobiology workshops, conferences on spectroscopy and astronomy and many other webinars/events.
