Valle - Wood FD in Coconino County posted to lists Nov 2 9 2014 I am sure that I have posted about these guys before.
Their radio license just recently expired. 154.01 R
The FD was started in 1995. They now have 2 pumpers, 1 brush truck,
and 1 rescue or ambulance. They also have paramedic possibly.
They are 25 miles south of the Grand Canyon National Park in the
middle of nowhere.
The 1998 Comprehensive Plan for Valle reported that their were also
pumpers at the airport and at the local hotel. (I would bet that those
pumpers have gone away now since Valle Wood FD now has 2 modern
structural pumpers - per photo with 2009 newspaper article).(in my Gmail folder)
The airport has a museum with old planes. $7 entrance fee.
Back in 1995 the Valle Wood FD had a Seagrave structural pumper that
they obtained from the Fred Harvey Company on the south rim of the
Grand Canyon. They also had a 1979 Type 3 International Harvester
pumper. (Maybe it was an old USFS pumper). The Fd had 3 EMTs.
Eddingfield Ambulance would respond from Williams with a 20 minute
ETA.
