My Hometown
I was born in Ceglie Messapica, a small village in Apulia (Italy), located in the Valle d’Itria, between the Murge and Salento.
Ceglie is one of the oldest villages in Apulia and was founded, according to the Greek historian Herodotus, in the 13th century BC by the Cretan king Japige.
It later became the military capital of the Messapians and was named Kaelia following the arrival of Greek settlers around 700 BC.
Today, it is considered one of the most beautiful medieval towns in the region, protected by defensive walls and dominated by a castle built between the 11th and 13th centuries.
