Jinwen (Jevan) Luo is a Ph.D. student studying psychometrics and quantitative methods at SRM. Before UCLA, Jinwen received a B.S. in economics and an M.S. in the economics of education, both from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in China. He has two threads of questions to ask. First, how do human learn and how their abilities grow through school and social learning? Second, how are learning and abilities assessed and in what way can we improve the measurement? Based on those questions, he developed interests in quantitative methods, including social network analysis, multilevel models, Bayesian modeling, and applications of causal inference methods in the educational context.
Minho Lee is a Ph.D student of the Social Research Methodology program. He received a BA in Education and an MA in Education (Quantitative methods, Measurement, and Evaluation) both from Yonsei University in Korea. His research interests include Hierarchical Linear Model(HLM), Item Response Theory(IRT), School Effect Theory, Longitudinal Data Analysis, and Causal Inference in non-experimental situation.
Yingshi Huang is a Ph.D. student in the SRM program. She received a B.S. in psychology from South China Normal University and an M.A. in psychometrics from Beijing Normal University. She believes that education can empower every individual to design his/her own life. To approach this goal, she is passionate about questions like how to capture the dynamic learning processes of students and how to provide students with a productive and tailored learning experience. Specifically, her research interests include developing longitudinal network models, adaptive learning algorithms, and computerized adaptive testing. Seewoo Li is a Ph.D. student in the Social Research Methodology (SRM) program at UCLA. He holds a B.A. in Education and Applied Statistics and an M.A. in Education from Yonsei University, South Korea. Guided by the belief that "what is essential is invisible to the eye," his research interests revolve around latent variables and measurement in a broad sense, including psychometric modeling, statistical programming, and psychometric applications in test design.
