The Economics Reading Group is a forum of critical discussion of the history of economic ideas among professors and students of different areas and levels. In the Fall of 2011, we organized a group to read about the HET. I am the coordinator of this group. Since October/11 we have met every year and discuss the works of several early economists. Participation is open to anyone, the only requirement been that participants read the material to engage in the discussion. Eight professors and about five students (undergraduate; graduate) currently participate in these meetings. The structure of the discussion is very informal and this experience has been very successfully. Faculty and students are gained by getting acquainted with the older literature and how economic ideas evolved over time.
