TESTING INVESTIGATION: WATER FOUNTAIN LAB
TASK:
A drinking fountain projects water as shown on the picture. Assume air resistance is negligible.
1. Collect data to determine
a. The speed at which the water leaves the fountain.
b. The volume rate of flow of the water.
2. Measure the volume rate of flow directly and compare it to the value found in b.
3. Extension problem:
Assume that the water fountain is fed by a pipe that at one point has a radius of 7.00x10-3 m and is 3.00 m below the fountain’s opening. Calculate the gauge pressure in the feeder pipe at this point.
