Membership Committee

The purpose of the Membership Committee is to (a) recruit and welcome new members and (b) coordinate professional development activities for HCWG members. Specifically, the committee currently oversees the following activities: new member welcome calls, membership surveys, mentoring program, webinars, and the speed networking event. We are always seeking new committee members who are willing to help plan or implement any of these activities.

The program planning committee plans and organizes HCWG sessions at the annual APHA meeting. We are always looking for more help!

Awards Committee

The Awards Committee looks for opportunities to nominate health communication scholars and practitioners for APHA, PHEHP, and HCWG awards. This involves sending out notices of awards to the HCWG membership and helping to identify and nominate qualified candidates. The committee communicates by email for several months before nominations are due.

Global Public Health Film Festival

The APHA Global Public Health Film Festival showcases films that explore and highlight public health locally, nationally and globally. Our film festival features public health films of all varieties (feature films, documentaries, narratives, public service announcements, educational videos, short clips, etc.). The films and related multimedia educate, inspire and encourage change for a healthier future. APHA's Global Public Health Film Festival aims to be a catalyst in the movement toward a healthier nation and globe by sparking the conversation about health in creative ways.

Communcations Committee

The Communications Committee develops and implements strategies to increase HCWG’s visibility within APHA and beyond. The committee addresses and coordinates HCWG communication needs, manages HCWG online presence (website, social media), publishes HCWG e-newsletters, and develops promotional materials for and publicizes HCWG events at APHA annual meetings.
