Dear Parents and Student:
Welcome to your second year of Chemistry! This is going to be an exciting and challenging year which will build upon the material you have learned in your previous Chemistry course. I have very high expectations for every student and am sending this letter to provide you with information to assist you in having a successful school year. The procedures and requirements of this class are outlined below, and I invite you to take the time to review this syllabus.
Advanced Placement Chemistry is designed for students who were extremely successful in their first year of Chemistry and are the highest caliber of science student. Even the very best students will be challenged. This course requires continual study, good note-taking skills, extensive time and effort, and excellent math ability. The student must be self-motivated and able to handle the time demands of an advanced science course. In addition, the student must enter the class with a sincere interest in science and a true dedication to furthering his or her studies in Chemistry.
Assignments, tests and laboratory explorations are part of the course requirements and must be completed in order to receive credit for the course. Please come see me if you are unable to meet this condition of the course. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Peairs
