By clicking on the links in the left sidebar you'll find a variety of links to both videos and resources organized by Unit and Lesson according to the Math Makes Sense Grade 6 & 7 Programs used in British Columbia Canada.
The majority of the links collected here were originally created by others. Sometimes it is difficult finding math resources that match our curriculum here in B.C. (ie the metric system) and in these cases I created my own videos. Most of the videos you will encounter here were originally created, and still maintained by, Salman Khan (Khan Academy).
My intent for putting these resources together was originally personal. I wanted a way for students in my math class to be able to work ahead on their own. I thought that some students would be able to check out the videos and/or the resource links on their own and then come to me if they still had questions or continue to work ahead on their own. An additional benefit was that for many students, (the majority) who worked at the same pace as the class, the videos came in handy at home if they needed to review anything while working on homework.
The resource links that I provide on the pages that follow were mostly intended for teacher usage, but, in many cases can also be used by students and/or parents. In some cases these links provide extra explanation, in other cases these links provide interactive resources that can be used either individually or in a group setting using a projector or SmartBoard.
In any case, these pages were never designed to "stand alone" as an online course of any kind. They were always intended to be used in a "blended" teaching environment as a support to students, parents and teachers.
