Alex was a great professor. He cared about us and if we actually understood the information that he was teaching. His lecture's were very well done and he offered extra help every week if we needed it. He was very approachable and took a lot of extra time to help us.
-----------------
Otten was an excellent professor for this BME course. He made sure to form a relationship with each student and has always been there when any student needs help, even for material from other courses. He answers every question thoroughly, even when he is asked to repeat something. He really tries to make a lot of real-world applications to help grasp concepts.
-----------------
This course has helped us understand the basics behind the working of the various biomedical instrumentation. Also, it brought in focus a lot of factors that need to be considered as biomedical engineers apart from just designing the equipment. Moreover, this course taught us that not every innovation or design will be for a cure but rather sometimes just to improvise on an instrument to make it more patient-friendly.
-----------------
We were provided with opportunities to learn about course topics outside of the classroom - lab visit, NASA conference - which were very interesting. The only thing that could have improved was maybe having more structured notes during lecture. However, the expectations for assignments and assessments were clear and he answered any questions we had.
-----------------
I liked how this class focused on the most important and applicable parts to BME. I felt as though I learned a lot that I can actually use in the field especially about sensors and circuits. One thing that I would suggest is to maybe allow us to have a hands on experience with creating a circuit because we got to watch one be made but not actually do it ourselves. I'm not sure if this is coming later on in the BME Lab, however.
Alex is a wonderful teacher with proficient knowledge of the subjects he delivers contents for. At face value, his delivery is concise and clear. However, Alex also excels at pushing students towards excess. Whenever a student asks for further explanation, he demonstrates the visually and with analogies until he is certain a student understands the topic at hand. Alex takes his profession seriously, and does it well.

Alex is great, genuinely cares about student success
-----------------
Alex was awesome. He set clear expectations, was always ready to help, and his knoqledge chexks were relevant and fair. People who teach should use Alex as their role-model.
-----------------
He is a great TA wanted nothing more then to see his students succeed in his class reached out to me after mid terms to inform me of my current Grade in class and methods on how to fix it aswel as offering his own assistance on the matter
-----------------
The use of the two discussion boards was key to my success in this class. I wish more classes had semester long discussions that answered specific questions that students had from the beginning to the end of the class.
-----------------
Alex is a professional person with a passion for teaching that shows during his labs and teaching sessions. Alex shows hi I'm understanding and learning in the course. In summary, Alex is an excellent person and professional.
-----------------
Personable, intelligent, and well spoken. If I have ever needed to understand a complex subject this is the person I would ask.
-----------------
Alex teaches very well in an easy to understand way and cares about the students’ success greatly.
-----------------
Alex is one of the best TAs I have ever had. In terms of displaying the information properly, teaching the course, and aiding all student with everything they need for success, Alex far surpassed the bar that is set by most of his peer TAs.
Alex Otten was my TA for Lab 1 and Electronic Materials, but if we are being honest he has also been my TA for Semiconductors, Logic Design, and how to handle Electrical Engineering. Alex goes above and beyond to help students. He has a passion for teaching and helping those who want to learn. This makes taking classes with him an enjoyable and highly education experience.
Something I value with Alex is that he doesn't hand people answers, he makes you think about what you are doing and pushes you to understand a formula rather than just memorize it. I remember him eating lunch in the DFX one day and having students come and ask him a question. I asked him afterwards if it bothered him that they interrupted his lunch, he replied "No, every experience I get now will help me handle situations in the future. They want to learn, so I want to teach them.".
Alex doesn't just help a select few students to help, I know of so many students who have been affected by Alex. For Lab 1, people try to get him as the TA. I remember one time people were talking about the TAs for Electromechanical Systems Laboratory and one student goes "My TA is the Alex of the TAs." So Alex is essentially USFs standard for Electrical Engineering TAs.

Dear Alex,
Hope things are going great your end. This is just to let you know that due to your support, guidance and tutoring, I was able to get an 'A' comfortably in the Physical basis of Microelectronics Course.
Indeed this would not have been possible without your help throughout the sesmter.
Thank You

Hello Alex,
I am writing you to let you know that i have been successfully approved and, therefore, progressed to our department. So, i really aporeciated your help on my study for last semester. Althought i am not an INTO student anymore, i wish i could still get your help in the future semesters while you are studying at usf. Anyway, you are an excellent tutor i never met before!
Best Wishes,

Good morning Alex,
Thanks for being such a great TA! I would've done terrible on the final without your help sessions!
Have a great rest of summer,

Thanks for your time this semester and helping me go over stuff and re-think my study habits.

Thank you for all your help and all the help sessions... I watched them all!!! Awesome class!
