Friendship Donations support organizations, causes, or initiatives that have a meaningful connection to AOH Division 1, its members, their families, or the Division’s longstanding community relationships.

These requests may be submitted by:

• AOH Division 1 members

• Community organizations or outside agencies

A Friendship Donation may be appropriate when:

• An organization has an established relationship with the Division or one of its members.

• A cause directly affects an AOH member or member’s family.

• The Division has traditionally supported the organization or initiative.

• A community organization is seeking general charitable support or sponsorship.

Examples may include a member-connected fundraiser, a local nonprofit with an established relationship with the Division, or a community cause traditionally supported by the AOH.

Applicants should be prepared to provide:

• The organization or cause name

• The organization’s primary contact and contact information

• An explanation of its connection to AOH Division 1

• The purpose and requested amount of the donation

• How the funds will be used

• Whether the request is time-sensitive

Unity Donations support projects and initiatives that directly advance the mission, visibility, values, or good works of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

These requests may be submitted by:

• AOH Division 1 members

• Community organizations or outside agencies

A Unity Donation may be appropriate when the project promotes or supports:

• Irish heritage

• The Catholic faith

• Veterans

• Immigration

• Hunger relief or missions

• Community outreach

• Another area directly connected to the AOH’s mission and values

The key distinction is that a Unity request should do more than have a relationship with the Division—it should actively further the mission or public impact of the AOH.

Applicants should be prepared to provide:

• The project or initiative name

• An explanation of how it advances the AOH mission

• The AOH value most strongly supported

• The requested amount

• The expected impact of the donation

Christian Charity Donations provide direct assistance to individuals, families, parishes, local charitable organizations, or community causes experiencing a specific need within the local community.

These requests:

• May only be submitted by an AOH Division 1 member in good standing who is current on dues.

• Are reviewed by the Charitable Contributions Committee.

• Are limited by the funds available to the Committee during the fiscal year.

• May include a request for confidentiality when the circumstances are personal or sensitive.

A Christian Charity Donation may be appropriate when assistance will directly benefit:

• An individual

• A family

• A parish

• A local charitable organization

• A specific community cause

Applicants should be prepared to provide:

• The beneficiary or organization’s name

• A detailed description of the need

• An explanation of how the assistance will directly affect the local community

• The requested financial-assistance amount

• Whether confidentiality is requested

• Whether the matter has been discussed with a committee member
