MTH 490 Trends In Mathematics

Pre-requisite :

This course is available for all 3rd and 4th year students who have taken all core courses (4 credit courses) in Mathematics so far and are taking all Mathematics core courses in the following semester. The permission of the coordinator is necessary.

Objectives :

To make aware the current scenario in Mathematics and what are the current topics of research.

Course Contents :

Lectures by guest faculty and internal faculty on current research in Mathematics.

The visiting faculty will be requested to prepare enough background for their lectures so that it’s accessible to students.

Schedule :

Tentatively Monday - Friday 3-4 PM in W302

or

as per announcement on Mathematics Seminar webpage.

Evaluation :

    1. The notes of each lecture prepared in Latex. The coordinator will divide the work suitably.

    2. Class performance includes questions asked, solving exercises given by the instructor, follow up of the topics.

    3. Extended report (written) in consultation with the corresponding expert on at least one topic.
