Capital Goods, Measured TFP and Growth: The Case of Spain
Spain is a case of too high output growth given the low observed TFP. Here we argue that the investment rate in Spain in structures is inefficiently high. We sustain this inefficiently high investment rate with subsidies. This high investment rate drives growth, but TFP is low because ISTC is low. We also show that housing booms affect the measurement of TFP.
