Annika Michelson, lecturer in agri-environmental and biodiversity related subjects at Häme University of Applied Sciences, Finland. I have been a teacher since 1996 at HAMK University of Applied Sciences. Since 2000 I am an eLearning teacher, living in Estonia but working with students at Häme University of Applied Sciences in Finland.
My goal is to make applied research that farmers themselves can carry out at their own farm lands. From 2014 - ongoing I carried out grain trials at my working place HAMK Mustiala campus and do cooperation with ca. 100 farmers in propagating old sorts and landraces. We have together created a homepage named www.viljalaari.fi where we collect information about these old mainly Finnish heritage grains. I am interested in native breeds and plants, semi-natural pastures and traditional animal keeping. At my freetime I take care of Kiltsi Meadow, Kiltsi village, Väike-Maarja municipal, Lääne-Virumaa county in Estonia. I was keeping Estonian native sheep 2005-2013. On my freetime I do inventories among landraces and native cultivars mainly in Estonia.
