There are also interfaces in the real world, and to my regret there is one between labs and citizens. Here is a list of projects I am, or have been, associated with, in order to contribute to a better dialog between scientists and society.
L'Atelier des Jours à Venir
L'Atelier des Jours à Venir is a structure aiming at sharing with the widest number the values of scientific research. Together with fellow scientists, we offer research-inspired trainings. Our goal is not to teach or popularize scientific knowledge. We rather want to make people think about knowledge, about how it is built, how it can be challenged, how it interacts with society.
What is a scientific question? What kind of answers can we get from science? Is a scientific training only useful for scientists? AJA workshops address these questions in various contexts, from soft skills trainings in scientific graduate programs to science communication training for undergraduates participating to a science festival.
You can follow our activities on AJA's website and blog.
Paris-Montagne
Since 2006, I have been member of the NGO Paris Montagne, whose goal is to create opportunities for young people and researchers to meet and exchange ideas.During 2 years, I was leading the Science Académie project, providing high schoolers from disadvantaged areas with internships in research labs. The program also organizes an annual colloquium where all participants meet and share their experiences. We therefore contribute to creating a community of young people passionate about science, and help them develop their scientific and academic projects.I have been member of the board of Paris Montagne since 2008 and coordinator of the career advising activities and was elected vice-president in 2011.If you want to know more about Paris Montagne or offer your contribution, do not hesitate to contact me !
Science communication
In the places where I worked, I contributed to various science communication activities :
- Nuit des Chercheurs in École Polytechnique
- Fête de la Science in PMMH lab, ESPCI, Paris and at UTC
- Girl's Day in MPI-DS, Göttingen, Germany
