Milestones
• Coordinator of the new multi-year project " Pilot Network for the Identification of Travelling Ionospheric Disturbances " (SPS 984894), 2014 - 2017, aiming at the establishment of the first observational network for tracking TIDs. The network will be established in Europe among Athens, Ebro, Dourbes, Pruhonice and Juliusruh Digisondes DPS4D. Scientific and technical support will be provided by the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Close collaborators in this project are also IPS (Australia), NICT (Japan) and INAF (Italy).
• Installation and maintenance of research infrastructures in the National Observatory of Athens: Athens Digisonde (an upgrade to DPS4D is planned within 2014) – DIAS system (new services for high latitudes and the topside ionosphere are available).
• Contribution to the establishment of the European Space Weather Community through the COST Actions 724 and ES0803 and through the organization of the European Space Weather Weeks.
• Establishment of the Journal of Space Weather and Space Climate in 2010 with funding from the COST Office of the EC and support from STCE of ROB. Impact Factor : 2.519
• Scientific Manager of the ESPAS project “Near-Earth space data infrastructure for e-science” funded by the European Commission FP7, 2011-2015 (http://www.espas-fp7.eu).
• Chair of the Management Committee of the COST Action ES0803 "Developing Space Weather Products and Services in Europe", funded by the European Commission, COST Office 2008-2012, http://www.costes0803.noa.gr/.
