Research

In my PhD thesis, I was particularly interested in waste recycling behavior. My research was structured in three chapters, which led me to use different tools : review of the existing literature, carrying out a survey with the aim of collecting and processing data, theoretical modeling and multi-agent simulation. By exploring the literature on the plurality of individual motivations, but also the effectiveness of monetary incentives to encourage individuals to adopt a behavior beneficial to the common interest, I noticed that this problem had never before been applied to the environmental issue of waste management. It therefore seemed interesting to me to explore this lack, and to develop at the same time an article project in experimental economics which completes the methods favored in my thesis

However, the analysis of household recycling behavior is only one of the possible applications of my work which can be extended to any other pro-environmental behavior. For example, following my thesis, I widened my work to the study of other pro-environmental behaviors understood as pro-social behaviors with a method which supplements those privileged until now : laboratory experimentation.

In the field of behavioral economics, particular attention is given to the use, often complementary to monetary incentives, of a nudge policy. Even though there is some work on nudges acting on raising awareness of household energy management, few studies of economics are interested in the behavior of employees in companies. In order to explore this, I conducted with my co-authors, a “ field-experiment ” aiming to test the efficiency of different nudges on the energy consumption of employees in companies.
