PRESENT ACTIVITIES
Currently, I am working as Research Associate Professor at NKUST, Taiwana. My current research is focused on to Desalination process of seawater and to economize algal bioprocess by improving mixotrophic biomass yield at large scale for improved lipid production. It aims to use waste material for micro algae cultivation to ensure waste management and energy production from ongoing process.
Recently, I worked as Research Scientist at Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, University of Hawaii at Manoa, United States. The area of my research was Environmental Bioengineering, broadly focussed on conversion of waste into value-added products and environmental remediation. Specific project is on the conversion of anaerobically digested waste biomass into biochar, physicochemical characterization and H2S/SO2 adsorption on biochar surface and subsequent application of resulting S-laden biochar for sulfur nutrition to the plants.
Previously, I worked on yield improvement strategies of biohydrogen from whey waste and acid wheat straw prehydrolysate. Moreover, anaerobic digestion of ethanol plant waste and its conversion into methane for onsite application and to remove economic constrain of overall ethanol process. In these studies, both bench-scale and pilot-scale studies were undertaken with techno-economic analysis.

F. Whole genome sequence
WGS of best BioH2 producer inhouse culture Clostridium Sp IODB-O3 has been carried out. It has 66.6% similarity to the existing complete and draft genome databases of Clostridium butyricum. The draft genome sequence comprised 3,411,171 bases in 29 contigs. It has a GC content of 30.67% and contains 4,536 genes and 80 rRNAs and 45 tRNAs. There were predicted 15 CDS responsible for xylose utilization, 23 CDS for glycerol uptake and 5 and 18 CDS annotated for lactose and lactate utilizations which were important for multi-substrate performance. This isolate has shown best performance on whey lactose in terms of hydrogen yield. This whole-genome shotgun project has been deposited at DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank under the accession no. LIGD00000000. The version described in this paper is version LIGD01000000.
