Andy J. J. Pitt FRINA is an innovative Marine Technical Author and Consultant with 48 years’ experience. He went to sea at 15, studied Yacht & Ship Building at 20 and Naval Architecture at 28. He managed his own boatyard in Denmark, worked as a project manager with ‘Camper & Nicholsons’, ‘Southampton Yacht Services’ and Technical Director at ‘Royal Denship’. He was Shipyard Manager at ‘Concordia Shipyard Ltd., and ‘Buckie Shipyard Ltd.’ in Scotland. He has set up, managed and consulted at shipyards, boatyards and marine projects in: England, Denmark, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Austria, Bangladesh, China, Scotland, Hong Kong, Germany, Spain, Greece, New Zealand, Sweden, Gibraltar, USA & Singapore. He has been a marine author since 1991 and published 26 books, plus articles, stories and training programs; on Superyacht Building & Refits, Boat Building, Shipyard Management, Project Management, Marine Surveying, Naval Architecture, Boatyard & Marina Operations, Marine Engineering, Restoring Historic Vessels, Vessel Documentation & Marine Training Manuals. He studied at ‘The London School of Journalism’, is a Fellow of the ‘Royal Institute of Naval Architects’ and a member of the ‘Yachting Journalist Association’.
