Here you can find help and answers to the most frequently asked questions and problems about my App App Apps2Fire.
Apps2Fire is an Android App. Since Apps2Fire 1.5.0 the app works with all Android versions from Android version 2.3 on. The aim of the app is to transfer applications and data from the mobile device (phone or tablet) to the Amazon Fire TV (stick or box) in the easiest way.
With Apps2Fire you can do the following:
With Apps2Fire you can only transfer, delete or start data. You can't control apps with it. Once you have uploaded an app, the main work of Apps2Fire is done. To control or operate an app on Fire TV, use the Fire TV remote control or a remote app.
1. Install Apps2Fire on your mobile device (phone/tablet)
2. On your fire tv switch ON (or OFF and ON again) the developer options (ADB debugging)
3. Open Apps2Fire and go to the "SETUP" screen/tab.
4. Click "SEARCH FIRE TV'S" and wait for the result list
5. Click on your fire tv's name in the result list
6. Apps2Fire tries to connect to your fire tv and the dialog box "Allow USB debugging" should appear on your fire tv screen.
7. Click the checkbox and OK with your fire tv remote
8. Now repeat the step 5. and click on your fire tv's name in the result list on the SETUP screen
9. Apps2Fire connects to your fire tv and Apps2Fire shows the dialog box "Info. Successful Connected"
10. Done
Check the following:
The functions in Apps2Fire are based on ADB (Android Debug Bridge). ADB is used by developers to develop apps and analyze problems. With ADB functions you have a powerful tool. Originally it was not intended to use ADB of a productive app. Therefore, the functions are sometimes unreliable. With deactivate/activate ADB and with restarts of Fire TV it usually works fine again.
Yes, since Apps2Fire 1.5.0 and newer an alternative variant for file transfer etc. is implemented. Just go to the "Debug" menu in Apps2Fire and press CHANGE ADB. This activates "adbsim", which is an alternative to transferring with ADB. This could make it work better.
INSTALL_FAILED_NO_MATCHING_ABIS :
This message appears if the app you want to install does not match the architecture (ARMv7) of Fire TV. The app is either too new for Fire TV or it is built for a different architecture.
If your app is built for newer versions or other architecture, this can cause the problem. For example, if you install KODI, use the "armeabi-v7a" version from the KODI homepage (kodi.tv/download -> Android)
INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK :
The app you want to install has been built with a new Android version.
If your app is built for newer versions, this can cause problems. Make sure the app build is smaller than or equal to the Fire TV OS version.
UNABLE TO CONNECT TO <my-ip>:5555:
- If the IP address of the Fire TV is not found automatically, enter the IP address manually in the Settings screen.
- Did you turn the developer options off and on again and confirm the Allow USB Debugging screen after connecting?
- Make sure you are on a private wireless network. Have you changed anything on your network (proxy, firewall, ports,...)?
- Make sure that no firewall is blocking port 5555, which is used for the connection. Normally, this port is open.
- Are you using the latest version of Apps2Fire (3.1.9 or later)?
INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT
It look like there the app is already installed, but with other libraries/versions. Your old version of the app that you are installing has dependent libraries / jars that have been changed. Maybe it happens after FireTV was updated to a new FireOS version.
Possible solution (no guarantee): Uninstall the old version on the fire tv and install the new version.
