Split Rock Backpack Trip Sept. 18-20, 2015

Scouts Garrett, Nicholas, and Ray Hiked up the trail 2.5 miles to a beautiful campsite on the Split Rock River. The adults Bob and John did their best to keep up. There was plenty of time to play in the creek after the camp was set up. The scouts worked very well together, with no complaining about chores around camp which made all the jobs go quickly and easily. Ray built a campfire which he was able to light with just 2 matches, and no fire starters or paper, good work Ray. The 2 older boys Garrett and Nick kept things going and fun. The weather was spectacular along with the views (see pictures posted on this site).

This was the first step in the Backpacking Merit badge for the scouts. They will need a few more trips to complete the badge. The rest of the Troop was busy at other activities which may be written up in another post.
