The collection of Pastor Hugo Fröhlich held in the Protestant Archives in Boppard contains extensive historical and genealogical material on the history of the southern Rhineland and the Hunsrück region in particular. Of particular importance for genealogical research is the estate of the former Kirn senior teacher Oskar Penningroth, who died in 1935, which contains a wealth of material on numerous Protestant families in the region, including 196 genealogical charts, some of which date back to the 15th century. As the gods have put sweat before success, researching the genealogical tables and records is made considerably more difficult by Oskar Penningroth's very small and difficult to read handwriting - but intrepid genealogists will find a real treasure trove! The contents of the surname collection can now be searched in an online finding aids. Link to FInding Aid: Pfarrer Hugo Froehlich
