Amrit Amirapu

About me: I am an economist and Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the University of Kent. My research interests span a range of topics in the field of Development Economics, including firm behavior, household behaviour (including marriage customs and migration decisions), labor markets, institutions (especially legal institutions) and informality.

I have a PhD in Economics from Boston University, an MA from Columbia University and a BA from Amherst College, where I studied physics and political philosophy.

Affiliations: I am a founding member of the Development Economics Research Centre at Kent (DeReCK), as well as a member of the Microeconomics Research Group, and the Macroeconomics, Growth and History Centr (MaGHiC), all based at Kent.

I am also a GLO (Global Labor Organization) Fellow, as well as a member of InsTED (Institutions Trade & Economic Development), the American Economic Association (AEA) Member, and the European Economic Association (EEA).
