The American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State

American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State are the premier programs for teaching how government works while developing leadership skills & an appreciation for your rights as a citizen. As a participant in the program you, will run for office, learn public speaking, create and enforce laws and actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government in this exciting and fun summer program.

You’ll meet other students from across your state who will become friends for life.

You’ll develop confidence and leadership skills that will shape your future.

Many states offer scholarships or admission preferences for attendees of Boys or Girls State.

The American Legion Post BE02 and the American Legion Auxiliary are sponsoring at least 2 students to participate in our Boys State and Girls State program. The participants in Boys State /Girls State will be flown to Maryland to participate in a week-long program during the 3rd week of June 2015. All expenses will be paid by American Legion Post BE02. As an overseas American Legion Post we partner with the American Legion in Maryland.

American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State are the premier programs for teaching how government works, while developing leadership skills and an appreciation of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. In this exciting summer program, you can run for office, learn public speaking, draft and debate legislation, and actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government. You will meet other students from across your area who will become friends for life. You will develop a confidence that will shape your future. Successful completion of Boys State and Girls State is recognized by employers, service academies and university admissions boards as an indicator of strong leadership and character traits. Many colleges and universities offer scholarships or admission preference to attendees of Boys or Girls State programs. You can keep America strong and ensure freedom for future generations by gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation of our democratic republic.

ELIGIBILITY: High school juniors or the equivalent of an 11th grade accredited home-schooledand who have at least one more semester remaining are considered.
