Dr Ambikesh Jayal, PhD, MSc, BSc, FEHA, MACS Snr CP, CompIEAust

I am an Academic, Data Scientist, Bioinformatician and Software Engineer.

I am also a fellow of UK Higher Education Academy, Senior member of Australian Computer Society and companion member of Engineers Australia with more than 20 years of work experience in academia and industry.

Research: Whilst my disciplinary background is in computer science and natural science, my research interests are interdisciplinary and lie in the intersection between data science and healthcare. I apply AI/Machine Learning/Data science to extract significant information from genome sequences and biomedical signals, such as heart waves or brainwaves, to improve healthcare.

I hold an undergraduate degree in science (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry), Masters in Computer Science and Doctor of Philosophy PhD in Computer Science. After completing my PhD in 2010 from United Kingdom (Brunel University), I joined University of Gloucestershire as Lecturer in Computing and have been working in academia since then. Previously I have also worked in industry, as software developer, including in Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Level 5 certified companies. I have been a member of UK Higher Education Academy since 2007 and my research and enterprise work informs my teaching. I have been involved with top-tier programmes for students at all levels ranging from Undergraduate , MSc to MRes, MPhil and PhD.
