Research

My work on leader's incentives and foreign policy began primarily in two branches: foreign aid and economic sanctions. Over time, I have brought my ideas about domestic politics and international relations to the study of repressive force within polities, civil conflict, and international crises. The last piece of my research agenda focuses on issues in the modeling and interpretation of duration models, particularly the Nonproportional Hazards Cox model. For clarity, I have divided discussion of my working papers by these subjects in the drop-down menu above. When appropriate, I have included a full working draft of my working papers. If you would like to cite one of these papers, please contact me directly to ensure that you have the most up-to-date version, as I and my co-authors may be actively altering these at any time. As these are working drafts, any and all comments for improvement would be most welcome! Please contact me if you have any questions.
