Biography

Ahmad Alsharoa was born in Irbid, Jordan. He received the B.Sc degree (with honors) from Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), Jordan, in January 2011 and the M.Sc. degree from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia in May 2013 both in Electrical Engineering. He received the PhD degree with co-majors in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering from Iowa State University (ISU), Ames, Iowa, USA, in May 2017.

He was a visiting researcher at Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC), Barcelona, Spain, from May 2012 to August 2012.

He was a postdoctoral research associate at University of Central Florida (UCF) from September 2017 to August 2018, then assistant professor at Virginia State University (VSU) before joining Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) as assistant professor.

He was the recipient of the Outstanding International Award, Research Excellent Award, and GPSS Research Award from ISU in 2015, 2016, and 2017, respectively, and the Preeminent Postdoctoral Program (P3) award from UCF in 2018.

His current research interests include: wireless networks, Visible light communications (VLC), free space optical (FSO) communications, UAV-based communications, internet of things, green wireless communications, energy harvesting, cognitive radio networks, cooperative relay networks, self healing communications, and MIMO communications.
