Rudolph G. Gordon College Fair
Rudolph G. Gordon College Fair
This event seeks to recognize and encourage Greenville high school students to remain in school and pursue college. Greenville School District is a long-time partner with the program that has been conducted since 1977. High schools guidance offices nominate students who excel in one of the six following categories:
Academics
Art
Athletics
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math)
Leadership
Music
Each high school has its own selection method process but we encourage them to select students who are talented in those above areas but may need encouragement to pursue college. Normally held on the first Saturday in February, we awarded Youth Awards certificates to all nominated winners a program from 12 PM. We also hold a College Fair (10 AM to 12 PM) were invite colleges to send representation to the event and we hold two seminars on "Getting the most out Financial Aid" and "Experiences from their first year in College" with current and former students from Furman, USC-Upstate and Clemson University.

Dr. Rudolph Giles Gordon, Sr., graduated from Benedict College in 1959 and began his 40-year career as a mathematics teacher at Bryson High School in Fountain Inn, South Carolina.
In 1996, Dr. Rudolph G. Gordon was selected as the district superintendent of The School District of Greenville County, the largest school district in South Carolina and 66th largest in the nation with approximately 66,000 students, becoming the district's seventh superintendent since consolidation in 1952.
He retired in 2000 and was very active as a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and a Member Delta Beta Boule of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity until his passing on February 23, 2012.
