The main focus of my current research is to study the physics and applications of cavity optomechanics. Advances in the fabrication of optical micro- and nano-cavities with ultra-small mode volumes and ultra-high quality factors allows for a dynamic interaction between the optical field and mechanical vibrations of the cavity mediated through the radiation pressure. The coherent coupling of these two different entities on a photonic chip opens up a range of applications in quantum and classical optics.
