Ali Kadhum IDREES received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Franche-Comté (UFC), France, in 2015, and his HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) from Université Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (UBFC), France, in October 2023. The HDR diploma refers to the habilitation to conduct research, which is a recognition of the highest level of qualification in the French academic system. Ali has been a full professor of computer science at the University of Babylon, Iraq, since 2018. He is currently as Research Associate at Smart-Edge-Lab, University of Applied Science and Arts Dortmund. He works on EMULATE to develop concepts and solutions for measuring, analyzing and optimizing the performance of edge services in the European cloud-edge continuum. He has published over 80 research papers in international journals, conferences, and book chapters. His research interests include Internet of Things (IoT), Edge/Fog computing, Deep/Machine learning, Wireless Networks, WSNs, WBSNs, IoMTs, Tactile Internet, Distributed Computing, and Optimization in Communication Networks. He has actively served as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member for various conferences, as well as a reviewer for several international journals and conferences. He has supervised seven Ph.D. and twelve Master’s students and participated in 20 Ph.D. and 19 Master’s thesis examination committees, either as chair or member.
