• PizzaMano - A silly (but can be fun?) game me and my friends developed as part of a class assignment at Monash University in 2003/04.
• VirtualDub - A video capture/processing utility for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows platforms (I took this sentence straight off their website...). A very useful tool to extract frames from video
• Praat - Neat audio (specifically for speech) processing, analysis and synthesis tool developed by Paul Boersma and David Weenik at the University of Amsterdam
• GNU Octave - Something very similar to MATLAB... but at virtually ZERO cost
• AoA Audio Extractor - I use the free version to extract the audio channel from AVI files. Normally convert them to MP3 format
• AutoGordianKnot - DivX/XviD utility
