Learning does not stop after leaving the classroom. Doing some practice at home can be review or can extend what was taught in school and are great opportunities to flourish. Develop the vocabulary your child will use in school and help reinforce what was taught. In addition, practice at home provides your child with another opportunity to review new information. I will provide enrichment opportunities that are relevant and I try my best to ensure it is at an appropriate reading level. In addition, I will try to update this page with activities done in class to help open discussions with your child about what is happening in school.
Enrichment Opportunities listed below are color coded by grade: 3rd grade is green, 4th grade is red, and 5th grade is blue .
Establish a designated time with your child to complete his/her school tasks. Encourage discussions about what was taught/learned in school. Have the children create a model or experiment related to what he/she is learning.
Encourage your child to notice the hills and streams in our area. Look at rocks and think about how they were formed. Check out some videos shared in Google Classroom to help build the understanding of how Earth's surface is always changing.
Encourage your child to notice the patterns caused by the Sun such as the time of sunrise and sunset, shadows...where they fall, how long they are and if they change throughout the day. There are also patterns with the moon; the moon phases, and tides. The students can easily look up these patterns, but it will be more memorable, if they make their own personal observations and models.
