Alexandra Hine is an active flutist, pianist, and organist in Rochester, NY. She holds a MM in flute performance from SUNY Fredonia and a BM in flute performance from Nazareth University. Major teachers include Dr. Marjorie Roth, Dr. Susan Royal, Joanna Bassett, Jan Angus, Sophia Gibbs Kim, and Sue Viavattine, who started her journey on both flute and piano. As a student at Nazareth, she focused her piano studies toward collaborative piano with Dr. Beverly Smoker.
Alexandra maintains a private studio of flute and piano students and is the director of music at St. Luke's Episcopal in Fairport, NY. She is a team member of Flutistry In 2015 she joined the faculty of the Hochstein/Rochester Flute Association Flute Camp and is currently the director of the camp.
Alexandra maintains an active freelance career along with holding positions in several ensembles. She is principal flutist of the Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra, Center Stage Pops Symphony, is a member of the Perinton Concert Band, and regularly performs with the Hochstein Alumni Orchestra. She has recently formed the Gold and Ivory Duo with her good friend and colleague Annette Farrington. They perform unique combinations of flute and piano, two flutes, and four handed piano duets. In August of 2023 and 2024 Alexandra also had the privilege of performing at the National Flute Association in the professional flute choir.
As an active member and supporter of community music, she serves as the past-president of the Rochester Flute Association and has been a member of the board since 2010.
Alexandra is currently accepting students into her private studio. She is available as a collaborative pianist, for all instrumentalists and voice types.
