Alessandro Buccini

I am an assistant Professor (tenure-track) at the University of Cagliari, Cagliari, Italy. I obtained the Ph.D. in "Computer Science and Computational Mathematics" at the University of Insubria in Italy and I had a postdoctoral position for two years at the Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. I work on the regularization of inverse problems. I have worked on the deblurring of images, the inversion of light scattering data, and, more recently, I have started working on non-linear inverse problems in geophysics.

For solving these ill posed problems, I am using various types of methods spanning from Numerical Linear Algebra to Optimization. I am interested in combining the two fields in order to obtain fast and robust algorithms with interesting mathematical properties.
